It was the stars of the time who put two lines under the fact that Marshall was something very special. Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Slash, Oasis, Muse, Gorillaz and Slaves used Marshall. Marshall is still on tour with the greatest such as Justin Timberlake and Lana Del Rey. None of this, however, would be possible without founder and revolutionary, Jim Marshall.
Jim was born in London on 29 July 1923 and as a child he was suffering from bone cubes, which led to him spending much of his childhood in hospital. When June turned 13, his father had the idea that he should dance to strengthen the bones in his legs and soon discovered that he had a flair for music. Subsequently, Jim grabbed the drums, and in the late 1930s he played professionally. After more than 20 years on the music road, Jim opened a music store in 1962, Jim Marshall and Son, in Hanwell, London.
The store sold a variety of musical instruments and attracted many young emerging talents, and Jim and his team produced their own amplifier 'Number One' (which is displayed at the Marshall factory in Bletchley), and the rest is as they say history
